Mesothelioma survival rate

Approximately 55 percent of patients with mesothelioma live more than 6 months, while approximately 35 percent live more than a year. Only 9 percent of people diagnosed with mesothelioma survive more than 5 years. "How long can you live with mesothelioma?" Those who have been diagnosed with mesothelioma, a deadly form of cancer caused by asbestos, often ask this question. Unfortunately, as with most diseases, there is not a single answer to how long a mesothelioma patient will live. A 2015 meta-study examined the results of 20 years from 1992 to 2012, and during that period the two main forms of mesothelioma (pleural and peritoneal) have seen an improvement in survival.

According to the study, the survival of peritoneal mesothelioma has shown a significant improvement, largely due to new forms of treatment, such as hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC).
