The good news is that survival rates for patients with mesothelioma are improving. A 2015 meta-study examined the results of 20 years from 1992 to 2012, and during that period the two main forms of mesothelioma (pleural and peritoneal) have seen an improvement in survival.

According to the study, the survival of peritoneal mesothelioma has shown a significant improvement, largely due to new forms of treatment, such as hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC).
